Halloween Word Puzzles

Halloween is just around the corner, and these word puzzles are a great way to bring some Halloween learning into your classroom. These word puzzles are a great way for students to work on their spelling skills, plus they're linked to the theme of Halloween, making them seasonal and fun!

This pack contains 17 different Halloween puzzles, meaning it provides your students with 17 different opportunities to work on their spelling.

Simply cut out the puzzles into strips and mix them up, then your students have to match them into the correct order to spell the word and create the Halloween image.

In this blog post I'm going to show you how we complete these activities. First of all I (staff) cut the image up into strips (following the lines) and then mix it up so that it's left like below. We do one puzzle at a time so as not to overload the student, but if you feel your students are of a higher ability to complete numerous at once, go for it!

Now, the student has to try and piece together what the image is and how to spell it, ordering the different pieces to form the word/image.

Once the puzzle is completed, you can then encourage your students to colour it in.

With the puzzle finished you can either laminate the pieces for your students to use as a jigsaw in the future or you can stick them into one of their work books.
