Five for Friday: 3rd June 2016

I can't believe how long it's been since I last took part in a Five for Friday Link-Up with Doodle Bugs Teaching. When I first started blogging I couldn't understand how people wouldn't post on their blogs for so long - then my life got crazy busy, I lost my routine and I lost all my blogging ways. Never mind, I'm slowly getting back to it and taking part in one of my favourite link - ups.

I decided to be a little bit different with the link up this week and talk about what we've done over the past 2 weeks, as it will be more interesting than what I have accomplished this week at home! (We are off this week for half term!)

One of the girls in our class was getting married, so we decided to throw a surprise wedding party for her in class! Staff and the children made lots of decorations and went out shopping on a trip, practising their life skills and counting money while helping to form opinions and choose different items for the wedding party. We ordered Domino's pizza as a treat - this was a great way to encourage our students to try new and different foods/flavours. We also made 'survival kits' for the bride and groom - the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed, and the bride-to-be was beaming!

You can tell by the photos how full on we all are in our class! We take celebrating to the extreme! Aren't the cakes just the most amazing things ever?!

Then of course came the real Wedding! Us and our partners were all invited and it was an amazing Wedding!

Two of our students are obsessed with dinosaurs and especially Jurassic Park. A local garage to us has a big van decorated in the theme of Jurassic Park and our kiddos are obsessed. So they have been busy making this jurassic park bus out of cardboard boxed with staff! They've had so much fun in it!

This week we have been bird sitting for my parents. They went away for a long weekend, and although they took the dogs with them - they couldn't take poor Billy! So, we took her outside for some sunshine - she loved it! You might wonder why she's called Billy- funny story. Since she was born we were told she was a he it was only when he was very ill a couple of years back that the vet told us he was not a he but a she! LOL. But she responds so well to the name Billy that it's just stuck!

And finally, I have been very jealous the past week watching lots of American friends finish School. We still have until July 20th, but this week we are off for half term! So, I've been relaxing, enjoying the sunshine and working hard trying to get my blog back to it's usual working order and updating some of the resources on my TpT store. The best bit is that I've had time to go through the photos and blog posts that I've been wanting to write and get them scheduled for the next few weeks - I finally feel my blog is becoming more productive and heading into the way I want it to go! :)

Thanks for reading, what have you been up to this week?

  1. Nikki,
I know exactly what you mean! You think "I'll never stop blogging!" Then life gets busy! Glad your back! Enjoy your vacation this week!

    1. I know, right?! I've been trying really hard lately to get back into it - but the more i'm trying to remember to get back into it - the more I don't seem to have time to do much! My plan is to get loads done over the Summer - when it finally gets here! :)

  2. I love everything about the surprise wedding party! What a great idea!

    1. Thanks Caitlin, it was a great way to include our kiddos in the celebration - they LOVED it :)
