Seller Spotlight Sunday: Grumpy Dumpling

Welcome to my Seller Spotlight Sunday.
Every Sunday on my blog there is a guest post from another fabulous TpT Seller. They will be sharing one free resource from their store, one paid resource from their store and something that they have been up to that week or similar!

So, don't forget to check back every Sunday or sign up for my email list to get notifications of new sellers!

Up this week is Ilinca from Grumpy Dumpling

Hello! I’m Ilinca (Ili) from Grumpy Dumpling.
I’m a kindergarten teacher (with English as the language of instruction) and I mainly teach non-English speakers. I’m currently living in Helsinki, but I’m going to move to Copenhagen very soon.

I became a TPT seller less than two years ago and so far it has been a great journey! I’ve met a lot of nice and supportive people (Nikki being one of them). I enjoy creating resources to complement hands-on activities, composing songs for ESOL, inventing vocabulary, literacy, and number games, planning creative art and craft projects, and creating a variety of materials for children to use, investigate, manipulate in learning activities and in imaginative play.

One of my favorite things is singing (although I do it quite badly, I do it with passion and that’s what counts, right?) and I love creating silly songs. You’ll find some of my songs on my blog.

One of my most popular free products is “Winter Weather and Clothes Flash Cards. I have used these flashcards with my own group (2-4 y.o.) to talk about winter signs, by also contrasting winter to other seasons. We discuss each flash card, then place it in one of the two piles (“WINTER” or “OTHER SEASONS”) and give arguments for our options. The children will be able to sort the flashcards by themselves or in small groups, too. They just need some instructions at first.

Some of my favorite teaching resources from Grumpy Dumpling are these Phoneme Segmentation Cards. They can be used in a variety of games and activities, using different types of letters – erasers, wooden letters, foam letters, stamps, written letters, etc. This resource contains both C and B&W versions, with and without letters, so you can use whichever suit your kid’s level best.

Check out my Facebook page or my blog for more fun resources. J

Five for Friday 29.1.15

Can you believe it's Friday again?
It only feels like two minutes ago I was writing last weeks Five for Friday post and here we are again! This has been another crazy, busy week. We have so much going on in the next few months that my diary really comes into action on a daily basis from here on out!

So, it's Friday, which means I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky party.

Well, me and Nath have really been pushing ourselves this past week with our fitness. We're really working hard and pushing each other to do our best. Between our jogging and long walk days - we're really getting there! It's only our second week but it's amazing how much better we both feel already with our exercise!

This past weekend we really enjoyed a nice long early morning walk around the Mumbles area and then finished with a hot chocolate and some time in the arcade before heading back! - We're kids at heart really and felt we definitely deserved a reward! We finished up the day having walked 10 minutes - over 20,000 steps can you believe it? My FitBit probably can't!

Here's some pics from our morning out..

With our holiday fast approaching we are trying to get ourselves organised. We bought our Universal tickets this week and our fast passes! I can't believe how quick time is coming around! Disney passes are next on our list now!

I'm also taking part in this great giveaway with some fellow TpTers. Unfortunately, you can only enter if you live in U.S.A but it's a great giveaway and you have the chance to win an Instax Camera! Just click here to head on over to check out the giveaway! Good luck! Entries close on 1st February!

While i'm being extra good now with my eating habits to get fit and healthy, I allow myself a little treat every now and again. This week was hot cross bun loaf toasted - with the raisins removed - ain't got no time for them! With some hot chocolate in my fave Miss Piggy mug!

I've also had my head buried a few times this week getting some new resources uploaded onto my TpT store. I love that feeling when I can cross something off on my to do list! The only issue I seem to have is that for every one that I cross off, I seem to add another 10 on to it!

My fave new one of this week has to be my St. Patrick's Day Mystery Puzzle Number Grids

These mystery puzzles are suitable for different countries with spelling as two types come included : colour and color. There are a total of 8 different worksheets for students to make different mystery images that are related to St. Patrick's Day!

Although it's now until March, it'll be here before you know it and we all know how quick the teaching days seem to fly by at this time of year!

Anyway, that's all from me this week!
Have a great weekend!

Sensory and Dinosaurs?

So this term our topic is dinosaurs.
Our kids absolutely love dinosaurs so this topic was just so perfect and suited them to the ground! It also meant there were going to be some great sensory activities to pair with it!

This week was all about having to dig out the dinosaurs from frozen jelly and frozen apple juice!

Literally you can freeze anything you want, we go for edible stuff - it's just safer!

First up, frozen jelly!

So, we made up a bowl of jelly but instead of putting it in the fridge to 'set' and 'harden' we poured it into a bowl, put lots of dinosaurs in it then put it in the freezer overnight! The next morning the kids had so much fun using different objects - spoons etc. to try and dig the dinosaurs out of the frozen jelly! Plus they got to eat it as they went along!

It was SUCH a big hit that the next day we ended up making more! But this time we got creative and asked one of the students what liquid we should use! They chose apple juice!

We poured apple juice into a bowl, added in LOTS of dinosaurs then put it in the freezer overnight!

The next day was full of fun as the kids tried to dig out the dinosaurs again! They also loved eating the frozen apple juice as they went along!

You can literally freeze anything you like. We go for edible stuff just because you never know with our lot! It's so much fun hearing the different language they use when trying to dig out the dinosaurs and how excited they get when they 'save' one!

Seller Spotlight Sunday: Little Acorn Speech

Welcome to my Seller Spotlight Sunday.
Every Sunday on my blog there is a guest post from another fabulous TpT Seller. They will be sharing one free resource from their store, one paid resource from their store and something that they have been up to that week or similar!

So, don't forget to check back every Sunday or sign up for my email list to get notifications of new sellers!

Up this week is Kathy Babineau from Little Acorn Speech!

Hi!  I’m Kathy Babineau.

I am a Speech Language Pathologist at an elementary school in sunny Florida!  I work with children in preschool through grade 6!  I have been a teachers pay teachers seller for a couple of years and I have products in my store that are appropriate for SLPs and classroom teachers.  In addition to TPT I have recently started two different blogs, one that focuses on resources for SLPs called Little Acorn Speech, and another that focuses on great things happening within the SLP community around the world called Positively SLPs.

Here is one of my most popular products.  It is super easy to use and great to use in small groups or as a whole class listening activity.

And here's a fun freebie

This week has actually been a cold week here in Florida!  We have had temperatures in the 40s at times!  I know it get much, much colder in other parts of the world, but to Floridians, this is rather frigid!  Sooo, with all of the cold weather, we have been focusing on cold weather animals, clothing and snowmen!

Thanks so much Nikki for featuring me this week on your blog!

Five for Friday 22.1.16

It's Friday and I wasn't really sure if I'd have time to take part this week, but I'm so glad I do!

It's been a crazy busy week and I'm not sure I have enough photos to share everything that happened but I'll give it a go!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching again for her wonderful Five for Friday link up party!

Well this week was the TpT sale! I love a good sale, there's so many great resources on the website made by teachers that are just perfect for the classroom! The resources are all already at great prices for what is included but when it's sale it means you get an extra 28% saving too! Did you shop the sale? I always love stocking up on clipart. I'm actually too embarrassed to share the clipart i've bought because it's way too much!

We have been making these dinosaur crafts in class this week! The kids have absolutely loved them and they were so easy t put together! Now we're just wondering whether we do more types of dinosaur in the same way and build a collection!

The kids love all things messy play and of course, anything dinosaur related! So this week we made glitter jelly (yep, it's really a thing!) then we put it in a bowl, added lots of dinosaurs in and then froze it overnight in the freezer. The kids loved digging out the dinosaurs that were frozen in the bowl - plus they got to eat the jelly while they went along! It was so much fun!

Me and Nath decided this year that we would really try to get fit and healthy. To be honest, we're not really un healthy but we do lack on our exercise now. I do pilates/yoga through the week but 3 times a week we now go jogging! And each weekend we're going to do a long walk! Our first jog went really well! We jogged along our beach coast - we're so lucky it's close by and it was great! But Nath got struck down with really bad flu so we haven't been out since - so there's been a lot of yoga going on!!

And 5, is a tricky one, so much has happened this week, yet as I've stopped to write it down for my 5 for Friday I've gone blank! So I think i'll leave it as 4 - and a half - ish!

Have a great weekend guys!
